Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) refers to the commitment of organisations to contribute positively to society beyond profit-making. At Support Foundation, our CSR is grounded in compassion and shaped by direct conversations with people with disabilities, social workers groups, and frontline support agencies. Through these engagements, we identified a recurring and urgent concern: many of the most vulnerable individuals in our community are unable to meet their most basic physiological needs—such as access to food, shelter, medication, and clothing. A 2019 report by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare revealed that 42% of Australians living with disability reported poor health, and over 60% faced challenges accessing healthy food. In response to this systemic gap, Support Foundation has prioritised the provision of fundamental support services as the core of our CSR. Our work goes beyond charity—it is a commitment to human dignity, to restoring hope, and to ensuring that every individual, regardless of ability or circumstance, has the right to live safely, eat well, and access essential care.
Food & Basic Needs
Support Foundation partners with local grocery stores, restaurants, charities, and other organisations to source surplus food and essential daily items, including medication, for individuals facing hardship. We prioritise the distribution of nutritious meals and health essentials to those most in need, ensuring all support is delivered respectfully and with dignity. Our dedicated social workers and volunteers work tirelessly to respond to food insecurity in our communities. This initiative reflects a broader national effort to reduce food waste while addressing hunger. By focusing on these basic human needs, we help to restore stability and wellbeing for vulnerable Australians.
Clothing
Through collaboration with community-based charities and generous clothing donors, Support Foundation provides essential clothing to individuals experiencing financial hardship or social disadvantage. This service plays a critical role in maintaining personal dignity and comfort, particularly for those in crisis. While large-scale clothing rescue operations are limited in Australia, our approach aligns with the principles of shared community responsibility and practical compassion. Like our food and shelter initiatives, clothing support is guided by the belief that everyone deserves access to life’s essentials. Support Foundation ensures clothing donations are distributed fairly and thoughtfully to those who need them most.
Shelter & Crisis Accommodation
Support Foundation provides short-term crisis accommodation to individuals with disabilities who are at risk of homelessness. We work collaboratively with local hospitals, charities, and support agencies to find emergency housing solutions for clients in critical need. With over 116,000 Australians experiencing or at risk of homelessness each night, our services offer timely intervention and safety. Our crisis housing program is designed to bridge the gap between emergency need and long-term stability. We believe secure shelter is a fundamental right and essential for recovery and wellbeing.
Student Placements & Workforce Development
Support Foundation actively supports student development by offering practical placement opportunities in partnership with RTOs, colleges, and universities. These placements provide valuable hands-on experience for students pursuing careers in health, community services, and support work. By integrating education and social impact, we contribute to building a more skilled and compassionate workforce. Our facilities foster an inclusive and engaging learning environment that benefits both students and the people we support. This initiative reflects our commitment to capacity-building and long-term community development.
Crisis Support Workers and Coordination for Diability & Ageing Clients
Many individuals with disability and / or older Australians who lack access to NDIS or My Aged Care funding or are still awaiting approval, Support Foundation provides free, interim support and advocacy through our team of experienced coordinators, social workers and volunteers. We assist clients in navigating the funding system while meeting their immediate care needs. Our services ensure no one is left unsupported during administrative delays or financial hardship. Through this work, we uphold the values of quality, equity, dignity, and proactive care within our CSR framework.
